Moving to Tampa Bay? We'll insure your new life here.
Florida insurance works differently — no-fault auto, hurricane deductibles, flood zones, and wind mitigation inspections. Our local agents handle the transition so you can focus on the move.
Why Florida insurance is different
Out-of-state coverage won't cut it here. Here's what changes the moment you cross into the Sunshine State.
Florida is a no-fault state
Your out-of-state auto policy won't transfer. You'll need Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Property Damage Liability (PDL) at minimum — we'll get you properly covered on day one.
Windstorm & hurricane deductibles
Florida home policies carry a separate hurricane deductible (usually 2–5% of your dwelling coverage). We'll explain exactly what you'd pay out-of-pocket before a storm — not after.
Flood insurance is separate
Standard home insurance excludes flood damage — and mortgage lenders in flood zones require it. We bundle NFIP and private flood options so you're not caught off guard.
Replacement cost vs. actual cash value
What your new home costs to rebuild can be very different from what you paid. We help you set replacement cost limits that actually rebuild your home after a loss.
Your move-day insurance checklist
Six steps to get properly covered before you unpack a single box.
Register your vehicles in FL
Transfer your title and get Florida plates within 10 days of establishing residency. Your auto policy must be written through a Florida-licensed carrier first.
Update your auto insurance
Florida requires PIP ($10k) and PDL ($10k). We recommend higher liability limits and uninsured motorist coverage — Florida has one of the highest uninsured-driver rates in the country.
Secure home insurance before closing
Most lenders require a wind mitigation inspection and proof of coverage at closing. Order this early — inspections can take 2–3 weeks to schedule.
Confirm your hurricane deductible
Know your storm deductible before hurricane season (June 1). Higher deductibles lower your premium but raise your out-of-pocket risk — we'll help you find the balance.
Add flood coverage
Standard policies exclude flood. Even outside FEMA flood zones, coastal Tampa Bay properties carry real risk. We'll quote both NFIP and private flood options.
Bundle & save up to 25%
Once you're insured here, bundle auto + home with the same carrier to lock in our biggest discount — and we'll re-shop it every renewal so you never overpay.
